Wisconsin State Representative Kevin Peterson, former submariner and stalwart supporter of the USS Wisconsin SSBN 827 Association, poses in front of WIS 827 with the sponsor of the future USS WISCONSIN (SSBN 827), Dr. Kelly Geurts. Dr. Geurts used an inflatable bottle filled with water from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior to “christen” the inflatable submarine, WIS 827, in front of a large crowd of supporters at the Wisconsin State Capital in Madison, Wisconsin on August 27, 2022. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ proclamation declaring 8/27 as “USS WISCONSIN (SSBN 827) Day” was read before a large crowd of supporters earlier that day.
